In addition to experience in mainstream business, Ms. Castano is an expert on slavery and genocide in Sudan and has applied her expertise to non-profits whose focus is on this area of need.  She has travelled to Sudan multiple times and is well versed on the history, politics, and social structure of Sudan.  Her successful efforts include but are not limited to:

• Production of a 1-hour documentary film on the slavery of the non-Arabs in Sudan which is set for international television release in early 2008;
• Published in local newspaper and national magazines of feature articles focusing on Sudan topics;
• Interviewed on radio, television, and in newspapers as an expert on Sudan issues to help bring awareness to the under-reported truths of the genocide;
• Numerous public speeches to organizations and groups on a national scale;
• Producer/consultant to radio programming with a direct focus on Sudan issues;
• Host of weekly radio show "Inside Perspective with Cindy Castano" with a focus on human rights issues worldwide;
• Major fund raising, of which 100% directly benefited fleeing refugees;
• Testified before government bodies to encourage the approval of legislation that sanctions investments in Sudan (at the request of The Genocide Prevention Task Force, co-chaired by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former Secretary of Defense William Cohen);
• Liaise with US State Department officials and ambassadors on human trafficking issues.
