Humanitarian
Cindy Castano is an expert on Sudan, with a specialty in Slavery and Genocide.  She is well versed on the country’s history, politics, and social structure and has traveled to Sudan multiple times, to both Southern Sudan and the Darfur region and has travelled extensively throughout the African continent.
 
Ms. Castano has joined human rights workers from Christian Solidarity International to free  slaves and deliver humanitarian aid to remote regions of Sudan.

Ms. Castano serves as an officer on the Board of Directors of Darfur Peace and Development Organization and consults to humanitarian and human rights organizations including Christian Solidarity International. She is the founder of Frontline Foundation.
 
Her successful efforts include but are not limited to:
  • Production of a 1-hour documentary film on the slavery of the non-Arabs in Sudan which is set for international television release in 2008 (see MySlave.TV);
  • Published feature articles in local newspaper and national magazines that focus on Sudan topics;
  • Interviewed on local/national press to help bring awareness to the under-reported truths of the genocide;
  • Numerous public speeches to organizations and the general public;
  • Consultant to radio programming with a direct focus on Sudan issues;
  • Producer/Host of weekly 1-hour radio show "Inside Perspective with Cindy Castano" that concentrates on human rights issues worldwide;
  • Major fund raising that directly benefits freed slaves and refugees;
  • Testified before government bodies to encourage the approval of legislation that sanctions investments in Sudan (at the request of The Genocide Prevention Task Force, co-chaired by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former Secretary of Defense William Cohen);
  • Liaise with US State Department officials and ambassadors on slavery and human trafficking issues.
